Get to know Eric

Ooi Eric. Yeap, that’s my actual name. It’s probably one of the shortest names around with only 7 letters!

I started out with travel photography but am currently moving towards shooting events and people. I shoot whenever I get the chance. I love wedding photography as it is one of the most joyous and heart-felt occasions that we go through in our adult lives. I enjoy capturing the best and most emotional moments of the day as these photographs span across generations to tell the tale of the wedding day. It is the passion that fuels me and hopefully propels me to greater heights as I continue to improve. It has been a wonderful journey thus far and I’m looking forward to bigger and better things to come in the very near future!

I’ve loved cars ever since I was a baby. My parents told me that after I was delivered, I’d raise hell every night wailing my lungs out and wouldn’t go to bed. The only way for them to allay the situation was to take me for a ride in dad’s trusty Mazda. I would always fall asleep while riding in the car…

My love for performance cars started when I got a 1996 Honda Civic. It was a purely stock car when I got it. I was ‘poisoned’ into the world of car tuning by a very close friend and eventually, I saved up enough money and plunked in a B16A engine to replace the original heart of the Civic. Although puny in size, the B16A engine gave enough juice to produce 170bhp. Not bad for a 1.6 liter engine.

My current ride is a Version 8 Subaru Impreza WRX STi and I love it to bits. Thanks to the previous owner who took good care of her, she’s in pristine condition and produces about double the power of my previous ride.

My fixation on retro modern designs came along when I bought my second condominium. My first pad was blanketed mostly with items from Ikea. When it came time to furnish my second place, I didn’t want it to have that Ikea look anymore. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I really wanted my new place to be injected with my personality, not just another place that looked like the catalog. So I started designing my own furniture and fixtures. After much research, the 60’s retro modern designs started to grow on me. It is the timeless beauty of the designs that really caught me eye. What was created almost 50 years ago is still fresh today. Simply amazing… and my respect goes out to the designers of those times.

I’m pulled to great jazz music like a magnet. Jazz to me is elegant, eloquent, charming, and sophisticated. It is also a very relaxing genre of music to plunge into and get cozy with. I think jazz is an acquired taste, but it’s not difficult to fall in love with the soothing voices and lively beats.
