Liang and I have been friends for a number of years. I first got to know him when I was searching for a vocal coach to help me improve on the technical aspects of my singing (in case you haven’t already known, singing is my other creative passion). Little did I know at the time that fast forward 7-8 years from then, I would be shooting his pre-wedding and wedding day!
I’ve always found Liang to be a quirky, down-to-earth, and funny guy. I used to attend my vocal lessons with him as my mentor on weeknights after my day job as a software consultant, still dressed in my office attire and lugging my laptop bag with me. I wasn’t a full time photographer back then and I remember apart from the lessons, how we would chat about the possibility of me doing photography full time, as he was able to inject a different perspective on things from a full time creative person’s point of view.
As time went on, photography and music became the glue that bridged our friendship. I have photographed behind the scenes in his music video, updated his portfolio for his personal portrait as an R&B artiste, and worked with his designer sister, Ann, on a fashion photo shoot project. I’m happy to have witnessed his transition from a music artiste to a radio DJ at Capital FM to a business owner and head chef at WhupWhup restaurant and cafe.
I got to know Pojoo last year when the plans for WhupWhup were finalized and the team for the restaurant was coming together. Such a poised, sweet, and well-spoken character she is. Naturally, I was more than happy when Liang told me not long after that, that they were planning to get married! I’m really honoured to be able to photograph Liang and Pojoo’s prewedding in and around the vicinity of WhupWhup and it was so much fun that everyone’s laughter reverberated throughout the entire shoot.
Here’s a few photos from the session, enjoy! #LiangPojooRingOnIt
